ADS-B Now Available In Sabre AirCentre Flight Explorer
SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Jan. 1, 2015- Sabre Corporation has enhanced its Sabre AirCentre® Flight Explorer solution using Planefinder to obtain additional information about airlines’ flight positions from a new tracking system used for aircraft surveillance, part of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen).
Planefinder receives Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast System (ADS-B) feeds used by commercial and private planes to transmit their name, position, call sign, status and more. Sabre’s Flight Explorer has expanded its flight-tracking capabilities globally, particularly in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Central and South America where coverage may have been previously limited to proprietary flight data.
The airline industry is moving from a ground-based radar system to the more reliable ADS-B tracking system, which in the future will be satellite-based. ADS-B data enables airlines to track their most valuable assets, passengers, crew, and fleet with increased situational awareness, reduce traffic delays and therefore increase fuel and time efficiency.
