Flight Explorer Personal Edition Helps Pilots Avoid Restricted Airspace with New Graphical TFR Feature

Fairfax, VA - October 21, 2002 - Flight Explorer®, the world's leading provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking information, reporting and display products, today announced that it has added the graphical depiction of temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) to its popular Flight Explorer Personal Edition software. The new feature helps pilots identify and avoid restricted airspace.

The addition of TFRs will specifically improve flight planning and situational awareness. Current methods pilots use to identify and avoid TFRs -- text descriptions sent out in NOTAMs ("notice to airmen") -- can be difficult to visualize and plot; and pilots can easily violate them. This new feature is for advisory purposes and official NOTAMs should always be consulted for the latest restrictions.

"Piloting an airplane, even in perfect weather, takes skill and concentration," said Walt Kross, president and CEO of Flight Explorer. "Pilots accidently violating restricted airspace can lose their licenses or worse. Anything we can do to help pilots fly safely is important."

Flight Explorer Personal Edition requires only a personal computer and an Internet connection, and provides up to 10 hours of flight tracking per month for $9.95, with no additional charge for the graphical TFRs. For additional information or to subscribe to the service, go to http://www.fepersonal.com.

Flight Explorer is the maker of Flight Explorer Professional®, the easiest, most robust and reliable aircraft situation display in the industry. With only a personal computer and Internet access, commercial users and others providing aviation services can use Flight Explorer to track aircraft anywhere over the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, the UK, New Zealand and portions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Flight Explorer Professional updates the aircraft positions every minute and refreshes the screen views every 10 seconds.
