Flight Explorer and Airways News Zealand Team to Expand Aircraft Tracking Coverage

Fairfax, VA – September 5, 2002 – Flight Explorer, the world's leading provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking information, reporting and display products, today announced that, as part of its expanding international coverage, it will provide upon request, at no additional cost to its Flight Explorer Professional customers, the ability to track aircraft in New Zealand airspace.

The expanded coverage comes as a result of a teaming agreement with Airways New Zealand. Airways New Zealand is one of the world’s leading providers of air navigation services. Initially, the agreement allows for Flight Explorer to provide flight-tracking data on flights within New Zealand domestic airspace, with oceanic airspace to be included in 2003. As part of the teaming agreement, Airways New Zealand will exclusively market Flight Explorer products in New Zealand including Flight Explorer’s Professional, Select, and Personal Editions.

Flight Explorer Professional is the industry's most powerful, reliable and widely used aircraft situation display system. With only a personal computer and Internet access, commercial users and others providing aviation services can use Flight Explorer to track aircraft. Users see a graphic depiction of planes, weather and other data over the entire coverage area or they can narrow the view to an area as small as a single local airport and a single plane. Flight Explorer Professional updates aircraft positions every minute and refreshes screen views every 10 seconds. Current Flight Explorer coverage includes the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, the UK (for authorized customers) and portions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Caribbean.

Walt Kross, CEO of Flight Explorer, said, “Flight Explorer is proud and excited to be teaming with Airways New Zealand to provide data on aircraft over New Zealand and to have them represent Flight Explorer in their region. This is an important step in expanding our coverage area to meet the needs of our customers worldwide.”

Lew Jenkins, implementation manager of Flight Explorer New Zealand at Airways New Zealand, said ”Flight Explorer’s world class product and reputation for best value, performance and reliability made it our clear choice to bring this value-added aircraft situation display technology to aviation and aviation-related businesses in New Zealand.”
