Kansas City, Dayton and Grand Rapids - Ford International Airports Take Off With Flight Explorer® to Track Aircraft and Provide Higher Level of Customer Service

Fairfax, VA - May 16, 2002 - Three more airports have announced that they are using Flight Explorer®, the world's leading provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking information, reporting and display products. The airports are Kansas City International in Missouri; Grand Rapids - Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Michigan; and Dayton International in Ohio.

The airports are using Flight Explorer® in a number of areas. In Dayton, the software platform keeps the operations staff abreast of pending arrivals and departures and enables them to keep an accurate record of those activities for billing purposes. Kansas City uses Flight Explorer as part of its flight information display (FIDS) system to provide the timely information on flight schedules to passengers and staff. In Grand Rapids, the airport is using Flight Explorer® as a tool to enhance situational and operational awareness.

“Flight Explorer is an important tool that we use to enhance operational awareness at Grand Rapids,” said Bruce Applebach, A.A.E. Operations Manager at Gerald R. Ford International. “The program provides our staff with greater lead times for both proposed and in-flight IFR operations, resulting in improved airfield safety and efficiency.”

Walt Kross, CEO of Flight Explorer, said, “We’re excited to work with Kansas City, Grand Rapids and Dayton to provide tools that will help them improve their flight operations and other activities. Flight Explorer provides a wealth of features that will prove invaluable to these busy airports.”

With only a personal computer and Internet access, commercial users and others providing aviation services can use Flight Explorer Professional® to track aircraft anywhere over the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada and portions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Users see a graphic depiction of planes and their locations, weather and other data over North America or they can narrow the view to an area as small as a single local airport and a single plane. Flight Explorer Professional updates aircraft positions every minute and refreshes screen views every 10 seconds.
