Easiest-to-use, PC-based aircraft situation display (ASD) retrieves aircraft and weather information; provides the best graphical display and fastest updates
Booth #611 at the 12th Annual National Business Aircraft Association Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in Nashville, January 30-February 2
Fairfax, VA and Nashville, TN - January 31, 2001 - Flight Explorer, the world's leading provider of Internet-based, real-time, flight systems and tracking information, today announced the launch of Flight Explorer 3.0, the latest version of its flagship product. The announcement was made during the National Business Aircraft Association Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in Nashville, TN.
Flight Explorer is the easiest, most powerful and reliable aircraft situation display in the industry. With only a personal computer and Internet access, anyone -- from a major airline dispatcher to a corporate travel manager to an aviation enthusiast -- can use Flight Explorer to track one aircraft -- or thousands -- anywhere in the United States and Canada.
Flight Explorer 3.0 provides a wide range of new features including:
Diversion alerts and flight plan change alerts, enabling users to make faster, better routing decisions
Animated weather
Distance and bearing tools to aid in changing routes "on the fly"
"My Fleet" feature. Enables users to track a select group of aircraft
Expanded airport information with integration of Cellular PilotTM data.
Enhanced Look-up/Go-to function that allows users to enter a name or code of an airport, flight, FAA region, sector or facility (radar) and then get detailed information or have the screen center automatically on the object.
"Flight Explorer's new version 3.0 takes the ability to track aircraft to a new level," said Walter Kross, president and CEO of Flight Explorer. "We're pleased that reaction from the aviation industry and other users has been very strong." Flight Explorer is already in use by thousands of customers, some of which include American Airlines, Federal Express, Lucent, MCI WorldCom, Raytheon, Swissair, UPS, TRW and airport authorities in more than two dozen states.
Earlier this month, Flight Explorer announced its spinoff from Dimensions International, Inc. of Alexandria, VA and named Kross as president and CEO. Kross is a retired Air Force general who came from KPMG where he was a partner and managing director. He was also a key member of KPMG's National Transportation Consulting Practice serving airlines, rail, maritime, trucking express delivery, and third-party logistics companies. Prior to this he served as Commander-in-Chief, United States Transportation Command, providing all air, land, sea, and intermodal transportation for the Department of Defense and other customers worldwide. In this capacity, he was responsible to the Secretary of Defense and the President for all defense transportation matters.
