Dimensions International, Inc., Announces Spinoff -- Flight Explorer -- Names Walter Kross President/CEO of New Company
Kross, 37-year industry veteran, to lead producer of Flight Explorer ASD, the world's top Internet-based, real-time, flight tracking software platform
Alexandria, VA - January 17, 2001 - Dimensions International, Inc (DI), a leading information technology company that helps the nation's top corporations and government agencies transform data into knowledge, today announced the spinoff of a new company - Flight Explorer - and named Walter Kross, a 37-year industry veteran, as president and CEO of the new company.
DI is the producer of the Flight Explorer aircraft situation display (ASD), the flagship product of the new company and the world's leading, Internet-based, real-time ASD. Flight Explorer provides a significant competitive edge to business users who seek highly accurate, real-time flight data. Flight Explorer's customers include major airlines, regional carriers, integrators, travel and car rental companies, logistics service providers, port authorities, and airports.

Kross brings a wealth of experience to the Flight Explorer team. He has 37 years of experience in global transportation. Before Flight Explorer, he was a partner and managing director of KPMG, where he served airlines, rail, maritime, trucking, express delivery, and third-party logistics clients, both domestically and internationally.
Kross, a retired Air Force four-star general, served as commander-in-chief of the United States Transportation Command where he oversaw a 168,000-person organization with more than 1,500 aircraft, 120 ships, 1,400 specialized railcars, 12,000 containers, a worldwide network of aerial ports and seaports, and the corresponding physical and IT infrastructure to operate worldwide.
During the Gulf War, Kross served as chief operating officer of the U.S. Transportation Command, directing the largest transportation operation since WWII. He also was commander of the U.S. Air Force's Air Mobility Command, director of the Joint Staff, and director of operations for the U.S. Air Force and commander of the 15th Air Force where he was responsible for six Air Force bases in the western United States. He was the prime champion for DOD's Global Air Traffic Management program, teaming with FAA to establish and fund it.
Kross received a BS in chemistry from Niagara University and two MS degrees, one from Auburn University in government and a second from Southern Illinois University in public administration. He has more than 7,000 flying hours as a pilot, nearly all in large air cargo aircraft operations.
