Dimensions International, Inc (DI), a leading information technology company, announced the spin-off of a new company, Flight Explorer, and named Walter Kross, a 37-year industry veteran, as president and CEO of the new company. DI is the producer of the Flight Explorer aircraft situation display (ASD), the flagship product of the new company and the world's leading, Internet-based, real-time ASD. Flight Explorer provides a significant competitive edge to business users who seek highly accurate, real-time flight data. Flight Explorer's customers include major airlines, regional carriers, integrators, travel and car rental companies, logistics service providers, port authorities, and airports.

"Walt Kross is truly one of the industry's top talents and all of us on the team are very excited to bring him aboard," said Robert L. Wright, chairman and CEO of Dimensions International and chairman of Flight Explorer. "This new venture is part of DI's strategy to be more agile and competitive in the marketplace for flight tracking information," Kross said, "Flight Explorer already has a great reputation as the leading platform of it's kind. The spin-off of Flight Explorer will enable us to serve customers better and move quickly to open new markets for flight tracking information. We have the team in place to make it happen." (Other key members of the Flight Explorer team include Patrick Herrity, senior vice president and CFO; and Jeffrey Krawczyk, executive vice president and CTO.)

Kross, a retired Air Force four-star general, served as commander-in-chief of the United States Transportation Command where he oversaw a 168,000-person organization with more than 1,500 aircraft, 120 ships, 1,400 specialized railcars, 12,000 containers, a worldwide network of aerial ports and seaports, and the corresponding physical and IT infrastructure to operate worldwide.

During the Gulf War, Kross served as chief operating officer of the U.S. Transportation Command, directing the largest transportation operation since WWII. He also was commander of the U.S. Air Force's Air Mobility Command, director of the Joint Staff, and director of operations for the U.S. Air Force and commander of the 15th Air Force where he was responsible for six Air Force bases in the western United States. He was the prime champion for DOD's Global Air Traffic Management program, teaming with FAA to establish and fund it. Kross received a BS in chemistry from Niagara University and two MS degrees, one from Auburn University in government and a second from Southern Illinois University in public administration. He has more than 7,000 flying hours as a pilot, nearly all in large air cargo aircraft operations.
