World Airways Utilizes Flight Explorer's ADAM System for Worldwide Communication with MD-11 Fleet
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (July 5, 2005) – World Airways, a wholly owned subsidiary of World Air Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: WLDA) has initiated installation of Flight Explorer’s Aircraft Data and Messaging (ADAM) system in the cockpits of its global MD-11 fleet. World expects to complete the installation in all 14 of its MD-11 passenger and cargo aircraft by the end of 2005.
“World Airways was looking for a customized and adaptable ground-to-air/air-to-ground messaging and data system that was more affordable and effective than traditional products,” said Charlie McDonald, World’s chief operating officer. “This system improves communication efficiency, reduces the need for paper documents, dramatically reduces communication costs, and seamlessly integrates with our legacy systems.”
“Flight Explorer and its partners are proud to be a part of this exciting initiative at World Airways,” said Walt Kross, CEO of Flight Explorer. “This will be a significant communication tool for the company.”
The ADAM system provides automated data interchange between World Airways aircraft worldwide and the company’s operations control center and ground support departments at World’s headquarters. The system, based on the worldwide Iridium satellite communications network, is the first to offer message and data services combined with Flight Explorer’s global tracking capabilities. World Airways also plans to install the ADAM system in its three DC-10 aircraft within a year, pending FAA certification.
World Airways has been using Flight Explorer products and services since January 2004 to track flights globally.
