Flight Explorer Expands Route Planning Capabilities with the Release of Flight Explorer Professional™ Edition 6.1
McLean, VA. – May 15, 2006 – Flight Explorer (FE), a global flight tracking, information technology and communications solutions provider to the aviation community, today announced the release of Flight Explorer Professional™ Edition 6.1. Version 6.1 enhances the powerful decision-support tool with extended route analysis and display capabilities, additional weather information and customizable airport and aircraft notes.
FE Professional is the industry's most accurate, reliable and widely-used Aircraft Situational Display (ASD) system. The system goes beyond “flight tracking” by incorporating multiple data feeds, dynamic weather overlays, situational alerts and predictive weather and air traffic tools to make FE Professional an essential flight operations management tool.
New FE Professional 6.1 features include:
SIDs and STARs Overlays - FE Professional’s Route Check feature has been expanded to include Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs) and Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STARs). A SID is a predetermined route which guides the aircraft from the departing runway to the first waypoint of its flight plan. A STAR is a predetermined route that takes the aircraft from the last waypoint of its flight plan to the starting point of the approach, called the Initial Approach Fix (IAF), and then onto the actual runway. By displaying SIDs and STARs, users can more accurately model their routes of flight, helping them to make better and more accurate route planning and rerouting decisions.
Enhanced Airport Information - Users can now view decoded Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF) in the Airport Summary to gain a more complete picture of forecast weather at airports they are flying to and/or from.
‘My Notes’ – Users can now attach formatted text notes to any aircraft or airport. This allows users to link additional custom information to a specific aircraft or airport, such as crew information, passenger preferences, airport services and contact information, etc. My Notes text can be written and entered manually or automatically through a customer’s in-house system, providing an additional level of integration for the end user.
“With Release 6.1 we are continuing to add key features and enhancements that improve the decision-support capability of our ASD,“ said Flight Explorer CEO Jim Kelly. “These new tools make Flight Explorer an even more valuable component of our customers’ flight operations centers.”
In addition to the features listed above, FE Professional 6.1 has added valuable product enhancements that include 56-day aviation database updates.
