New Multiple-Map Viewing and Global Airport Data Now Available in Flight Explorer Professional 8.2
McLean, Va. (January 15, 2008) — Flight Explorer (FE), a global flight tracking and IT solutions provider to the aviation community, today announced the release of Flight Explorer Professional™ Edition 8.2. With Version 8.2, Flight Explorer has added powerful multiple-map viewing and new global airport data from Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc.’s UVTripPlannersm tool to its Aircraft Situation Display (ASD).
FE Professional is the industry's most accurate, reliable and widely-used ASD. The system goes beyond “flight tracking” by incorporating multiple data feeds, dynamic weather overlays, situational alerts and forecast weather and air traffic management tools to make FE Professional an essential flight operations management tool.
“The new multiple-map viewing features and global UVTripPlanner data really take the flexibility and globalization of FE Professional to the next level,” said Flight Explorer CEO Jim Kelly. “With this release, we are excited to be able to provide our global customer base a more efficient way to plan their trips and monitor individual aircraft, airspace and airport situations simultaneously worldwide.”
Key Version 8.2 additions include:
Multiple Map Windows – Users can now display up to four different User Defined Views simultaneously on their ASD screen. Each window has full FE Professional functionality and can be changed or saved independently.
UVTripPlanner Global Airport Data – Located in the Airport Summary, the Universal® UVTripPlanner tool is a comprehensive and accurate pre-flight reference tool featuring worldwide airport data for over 25,000 airports across the globe. UVTripPlanner information is drawn from active NOTAMs, Universal’s industry-leading international network of ground handlers and relationships with civil aviation authorities to provide comprehensive information on airport, heliport, and seaplane base landing facilities, FBOs and handlers, hotel and caterer listings, transportation-provider listings and airport diagrams for the top airports worldwide. It also includes advanced search, alternate airport and print tools.
Enhanced Weather Layers – All ten weather layers are now enabled with synchronized animation capabilities.
Enhanced North Atlantic and Pacific Tracks – Users can now view daily published overseas North Atlantic and Pacific flight routes separately as either eastbound or westbound products.
FE Professional 8.2 also brings with it updates to key data sources, as well as other enhancements in response to requests from Flight Explorer’s global customer base.
